Palmer

Chateau Palmer, located in the Margaux appellation of Bordeaux, is celebrated for its refined and opulent wines. The estate, established in the early 19th century, was named after Major General Charles Palmer, an Englishman who acquired the property in 1814. Chateau Palmer was classified as a Third Growth in the 1855 Bordeaux Wine Official Classification, but its wines have often rivaled those of the top-tier estates in quality and prestige. The estate encompasses 66 hectares of vineyards, with a unique composition of grape varieties for the region: 47% Merlot, 47% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 6% Petit Verdot. This high proportion of Merlot contributes to the lush, velvety texture and aromatic richness that are hallmarks of Chateau Palmer’s wines. The gravelly soils and ideal microclimate of the Margaux terroir provide the perfect conditions for producing wines of depth, elegance, and longevity. Chateau Palmer’s flagship wine is known for its complex bouquet, rich palate, and remarkable aging potential. The estate's second wine, Alter Ego de Palmer, introduced in 1998, is crafted with a different blend and vinification process, offering a more approachable yet still sophisticated expression of the Palmer terroir. Both wines reflect the estate’s commitment to quality and meticulous attention to detail. In addition to its primary wines, Chateau Palmer has undertaken projects that further showcase its innovative spirit.
