Jean-Luc & Eric Burguet Gevrey-Chambertin Mes Favorites Vieilles Vignes — The Heart of Gevrey

Mes Favorites Vieilles Vignes is the flagship cuvée of Jean-Luc & Eric Burguet — a wine that distills the essence of Gevrey-Chambertin from a mosaic of the domaine’s oldest and best parcels. Its name, meaning “my favourites,” reflects its origins: a personal selection of old-vine Pinot Noir (many parcels over 70 years old) drawn from lieux-dits such as Les Epointures, En Billard, Les Seuvrées, and Les Justices, all organically farmed on classic limestone and clay soils. Hand-harvested and sorted with the precision that defines the Burguet brothers’ work, the grapes are partially destemmed (proportion varying by vintage) and fermented with indigenous yeasts. The wine then ages for 16–18 months in French oak barrels, around one-third new, before being bottled unfined and unfiltered to preserve purity and texture. In the glass, Mes Favorites is archetypal Gevrey — black cherry, raspberry, rose petal, and violets, layered with hints of forest floor, spice, and mineral depth. The palate is supple yet firm, structured by fine-grained tannins and lifted by a limestone brightness that keeps the finish long and poised. While seductive in youth, it gains complexity and grace with time: after 5–10 years, savoury notes of truffle, dried herbs, and sous-bois emerge, giving the wine a calm, Burgundian gravitas. Mes Favorites Vieilles Vignes is not just a “village” wine — it’s a microcosm of Gevrey-Chambertin itself, blending strength and finesse in the way only old vines and patient craftsmanship can achieve.
