Maison Marchand-Tawse is a prominent modern négociant house in Burgundy, founded in 2011 through the partnership of Pascal Marchand, a visionary Quebec-born winemaker, and Moray Tawse, a Canadian viticultural entrepreneur. The brand quickly distinguished itself by combining traditional Burgundian terroir with modern organic and biodynamic practices.
Pascal Marchand first gained recognition in Burgundy as the young winemaker at Domaine Comte Armand in 1985, where he revitalised the estate’s Pommard Clos des Épeneaux through organic farming and a sensitive winemaking touch. After expanding his impact at Domaine de la Vougeraie—where he converted extensive vineyards to biodynamics—he launched Maison Marchand-Tawse in 2011.
A major step came with the acquisition of Domaine Maume in Gevrey-Chambertin in 2012, giving the négociant access to a remarkable selection of vineyards, including holdings in multiple grands crus. Since then, Marchand-Tawse has built an impressive portfolio across the Côte d’Or, producing wines from approximately 68 appellations, ranging from regional Bourgogne all the way to grands crus.
The house is known for meticulous attention to detail and organic/biodynamic viticulture. While some wines incorporate whole-bunch fermentation, its use varies thoughtfully by cuvée. Winemaker Mark Fincham heads up the winemaking team at Domaine Tawse, bringing an experimental yet terroir-respecting touch. The focus is on purity, definition, and elegance.
Maison Marchand-Tawse’s range spans villages, premiers, and grands crus across Burgundy, signifying both scale and depth. Its wines are highly regarded for their clarity, drinkability, and expression of place—anchored in a philosophy that balances tradition with modernity.
