Poderi e Cantine Oddero is one of Barolo’s historic family estates, documented in La Morra for centuries and long associated with a classical, vineyard-first expression of Nebbiolo. Today the cellar is led by Mariacristina Oddero and family, who have modernised gently while holding fast to traditional methods. The estate’s holdings span prime sites across the Langhe—La Morra, Castiglione Falletto and Serralunga d’Alba—giving a palette of terroirs that feed both village bottlings and distinguished single-vineyard Barolo.
Viticulture is careful and low-intervention, with hand work in the vines, tight bunch selection at harvest, and a steady shift toward sustainable, organic practices. In the winery, native or neutral ferments, long macerations and slow, patient ageing in large Slavonian oak casks define the style. New wood is kept discreet, so oak acts as a frame rather than a flavour, and each cru’s character remains front and centre.
Oddero’s Barolo range captures the spectrum from fragrance and lift to depth and structure. The classic Barolo draws on multiple communes for balance, while single-vineyard releases from renowned MGAs—such as Brunate in La Morra and Vigna Rionda in Serralunga d’Alba—show place with precision: rose and red-cherry perfume, fine, layered tannins, and a cool, mineral line that lengthens with time in bottle. Beyond Barolo, the estate produces poised Langhe Nebbiolo, characterful Barbera and Dolcetto, and selected Barbaresco, all made with the same restraint and clarity.
Cellaring is part of the promise. Village and classico Barolo typically open up from five to seven years after the vintage, while the top crus can evolve gracefully for 15–20 years or more, gaining truffle, tobacco and balsamic complexity without losing their inner perfume. Throughout the range, the signature remains unchanged: transparent, site-expressive wines that speak softly but carry long—an authentic, time-tested Barolo voice.
