1086 is Nyetimber’s pinnacle: a traditional-method, Chardonnay-led blend made only in exceptional vintages from the estate’s best south-facing parcels across West Sussex, Hampshire, and Kent. It’s exclusively estate-grown and estate-made, the culmination of Nyetimber’s parcel-by-parcel approach and long, cool English growing seasons that deliver fine acidity and detail.
In the cellar, 1086 is handled with patience: gentle whole-bunch pressing, lots vinified separately, and extended lees ageing (far beyond the house’s norm) to build texture, complexity, and an ultra-fine mousse. Dosage is kept measured to preserve a chalk-tinged line and the wine’s natural precision.
In the glass, 1086 White is layered and poised: lemon oil, white peach and ripe orchard fruit glide into brioche, pastry cream, toasted hazelnut and chalky minerality. The palate is concentrated yet tense — a seamless bead, satin texture, and a finish that fans out with citrus zest, saline lift, and subtle spice.
While immediately thrilling on release, 1086 is built to evolve. With time in bottle it gains honeyed depth, nutty nuance and a more expansive mid-palate while retaining the freshness that defines top English fizz.
Serving note: chill lightly (10–12 °C) and pour in white-wine stems rather than flutes to let the aromatics unfold.
