Appearance: Clear, medium garnet with a wide, tawny rim. Nose: Clean, pronounced intensity. The primary fruit has evolved entirely into fully developed secondary and tertiary characteristics. Prominent aromas of dried blackberry, prune, and red licorice intermingle with sweet notes of vanilla, caramel, and mocha from intensive American oak aging. Deep tertiary layers of leather, forest floor, damp loam, and molasses dominate. Palate: Dry with medium-plus acidity and fully integrated, soft, fine-grained medium tannins. The alcohol is high but well-balanced by the wine's viscosity. Medium-plus bodied, it reveals rich flavors of black licorice, dried plum, dark chocolate, and savory tobacco. The structural components are mature, presenting a rich, velvety texture. The finish is long and complex, ending with lingering notes of sweet spice and leather. Conclusion: Outstanding quality. A textbook example of an aged, premium McLaren Vale Bordeaux blend (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot) that has retained structural integrity and concentration while developing exceptional tertiary complexity. It is fully mature and at its peak; do not age further. The label on one bottle is stained on the rear and torn on the front as shown in the photos. You can see the ullage in the photos, both bottles are still in the neck.
