Chateau Pape Clement Cru Classe, Pessac-Leognan 2020

One of the best Pape Clement in years. Cabernet Sauvignon 50%, Merlot 50%. Jeanne Lacombe, the technical director, considers the quality of the fruit in 2020 among the best ever here – especially the Cabernet Sauvignon, with its velvety tannins and remarkably dense texture. Tasting shows the château’s signature smoky and toasty aromas, palate rich and chocolatey, with savoury miso notes along with vibrant blueberry and blackberry flavours. Can be drink already now but will naturally be even better as it ages. Michael Schuster 90-93/100, Jane Anson 94/100, Antonio Galloni 95-97/100. Neal Martin 95-97/100, Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW 96-98/100, Jeb Dunnuck 97-99/100. Due to this remarkable vintage the 2020's already started selling at £100+ a bottle.
