2005 Fruitiere Vinicole d'Arbois Chateau Bethanie Arbois Vin Jaune

About the wine: Vin jaune (French for 'yellow wine') is a special and characteristic type of white wine made in the Jura region in eastern France. It is similar to dry fino Sherry and gets its character from being matured in a barrel under a film of yeast. The vin jaune is then bottled in special squat bottles that hold 62 cl (21 ounces), called clavelins. Historically the bottle size alludes to the amount of wine that remains from each litre after six years of aging and evaporation. A highly unusual wine, sometimes described as tasting of curry! About me: I’m a private collector with way too much wine! My wines are either stored at home in a Spiral Cellar or held in Lay & Wheeler’s temperature-controlled warehouse (some wines under bond and some duty paid – see specific listing details). Please note that if a wine comes from Lay & Wheeler it may take some time to be despatched.
