A fresh, well-balanced Saint-Joseph that shows Villard’s lighter, more approachable side. Dark fruit and cracked pepper come through first, followed by gentle spice and tidy tannins. It’s punchy without being heavy, cleanly put together, and very easy to enjoy — a Syrah that feels confident rather than showy. Drinking window: 2022–2028. ⸻ Producer François Villard is known for expressive but controlled Northern Rhône wines. Mairlant sits at the more relaxed end of his range, offering clarity and balance rather than the extra weight and structure found in cuvées like Reflet.
