Not every great wine announces itself with ceremony. Artorius is Fattorie dei Dolfi's most approachable expression - ruby-coloured, direct, and beautifully balanced - but behind its easy-going character lies a serious pedigree that any wine lover will appreciate. The estate sits on a natural oasis in the Pisan hills, its vineyards facing the Tyrrhenian coast. The grape is Prugnolo Gentile, the distinguished Sangiovese clone at the heart of Brunello di Montalcino, shaped by winemaking philosophy inherited directly from Giacomo Tachis - the man who created Sassicaia and is widely regarded as the father of the modern Italian wine movement. Owner Giovanni Dolfi learnt from Tachis personally, carrying that legacy into every harvest. Artorius is produced in slightly larger quantities than Imeneus, but it remains genuinely scarce - rarely seen outside fine dining circles and specialist merchants. It is the kind of wine that makes a lasting impression at the dinner table: structured enough to hold its own against a good bistecca, warm and generous enough to hold a conversation. For collectors, it offers an accessible entry point into the Fattorie dei Dolfi range; for drinkers, it simply delivers. Stored in bond at London City Bond (LCB), Eton Park, Burton-upon-Trent. Bond-to-bond transfer available; home delivery can also be arranged (duty and VAT payable on release from bond).
