Duemani

Duemani is a rising star of Tuscan fine wine, a biodynamic estate founded in 2000 by winemaker Luca D’Attoma and his partner Elena Celli. The name, meaning “two hands,” reflects the couple’s shared vision and hands-on approach to creating a winery from scratch on the rugged coastal hills of Riparbella, north of Bolgheri in Tuscany’s Maremma. When Luca and Elena first purchased the land, it was an abandoned, rocky site. Many doubted its potential, but its elevation, exposure, and mineral-rich soils proved ideally suited to their ambitious project. From the beginning, the vineyards were cultivated according to biodynamic principles, with official certification achieved in 2004, making Duemani one of Tuscany’s pioneers in biodynamic viticulture. The estate covers roughly 7 hectares of vines, planted at altitude with dramatic views of the Tyrrhenian Sea. The focus is on Bordeaux and Rhône varietals that thrive in this coastal climate: Cabernet Franc, Syrah, and Merlot, alongside some smaller plantings. Each variety is given its own distinct expression, bottled separately to highlight site and character. The wines are made with minimal intervention, combining biodynamic farming with careful selection and precise winemaking. Duemani’s portfolio includes its flagship pure Cabernet Franc, simply called Duemani; the vibrant Altrovino, a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc; the concentrated Suissassi Syrah; and CiFRA, a fresher, more approachable Cabernet Franc. All are marked by purity, aromatic intensity, and a balance of richness with freshness that reflects their maritime terroir. In just two decades, Duemani has achieved international acclaim, often receiving top ratings from critics and positioning itself as a modern icon of Tuscan wine. The estate embodies both respect for nature and a bold, forward-looking style — a boutique producer whose wines are as expressive and distinctive as the land from which they come.
