Only wine from a single wine estate in Italy to have its own DOC. Critic tasting note: (1996 vintage) "A ‘small’ vintage due to rain during harvest. This Sassicaia is lithe but has an excellent elegance, similar in a way to a Burgundy, mutatis mutandis . The ruby-garnet color is bright but the intensity is average and the bouquet is of floral and balsamic notes with scents of violet eucalyptus and berry jam on a background of underbrush. The mouthfeel is delicate but whole, tannic and with an excellent acidity and a subtle persistence of average length." - Doctorwine
