Bottle of Perrier Jouet Reserve cuvee 1964 extra brut. Bottle has been wrapped in clingfilm some time ago and its gathered some dust from previous storage. Unable to accurately assess ullage through the clingfilm. Small tear to the top of the shoulder label - visible in image Capsule appears to be intact but aged foil can be quite brittle. small tear to lower edge of main label. Since acquiring it in 2010 it has been stored in temperature stable conditions. I had discussions with Perrier Jouet and their winemaker at the time of acquisition regarding its drinkability. Subject to adequate storage conditions, the wine could still be drinkable, though with with less effervescence than might be expected and considerably more oxidative character. 1964 was a landmark year for the house as that was the year they re-discovered the Emile Galle anemone bottles from the art deco era and created their prestige cuvee - La Belle Epoque. Now its more likely to be something gifted to someone celebrating their birthday or anniversary.
