Six magnums of one of the most celebrated Chianti Classico Gran Selezione releases ever produced. The 2011 San Lorenzo earned 96 points from James Suckling and is widely regarded as the wine that put the Gran Selezione category on the map, rivalling top Brunello di Montalcino in richness and concentration. Made predominantly from Sangiovese with small additions of Merlot and Malvasia Nera, sourced from the estate's finest historic vineyards, Bellavista, Casuccia, San Lorenzo and Montebuoni, at elevations of 460–525 metres on clay and calcareous soils. The nose offers black cherry, tar, dried violet, spice and cedar, while the polished palate delivers ripe raspberry, orange peel, anise and liquorice, framed by fine-grained, beautifully integrated tannins. At fifteen years of age, these magnums are entering a superb drinking window, the larger format ensuring slower, more graceful evolution. This is a wine with the structure and depth to continue developing for years to come. A natural partner for roast lamb, aged Tuscan pecorino, Comté, wild mushroom dishes and braised meats. Six magnums of a landmark Chianti Classico from one of Tuscany's most iconic estates.
