Cabernet sauvignon-led, as usual, the 2020 is a blend of 58% cabernet sauvignon, 24% merlot, 10% malbec (a little less than in 2019), with a little more cabernet franc (8%), components safely introduced to its ultimately 68% new French oak before the first Covid 19 lockdown. Sixty-one barrels were produced. Series C`s 1st November 2022 release in the Cape announced "The early hallmarks of this new vintage point to a future classic" and "The vintage reflects a quintessential elegance, with a core of satin-textured tannins and youthful energy…". Whilst unshowy, this wine is already accessible, displaying beautiful deep colour, dark blue/black fruit, deliciously creamy oak with touches of spice and classic cigar box and pencil lead, supported by suave but dense tannins.
