Charles Heidsieck Blanc des Millénaires 1983 Brut Champagne – L’Oenothèque, disgorged 1999, 75cl

An important mature Blanc de Blancs from Charles Heidsieck and the inaugural 1983 vintage of Blanc des Millénaires. Founded in Reims in 1851 by Charles-Camille Heidsieck—later celebrated as ‘Champagne Charlie’—the house is renowned for long cellar ageing in its historic chalk crayères and a generous, complex style. Blanc des Millénaires was created by cellar master Daniel Thibault and is made entirely from Chardonnay selected from the Côte des Blancs. The 1983 harvest followed a difficult wet winter and spring, but summer brought excellent ripening; the year’s Chardonnays were noted for both finesse and body and proved well suited to long ageing. This individually numbered bottle (No. 2154) carries a neck medallion marked ‘L’Oenothèque 2000 Deuxième’, while the rear label records disgorgement in the first half of 1999. Carefully stored in a Master of Wine’s wine store. The front label is attractive and clearly legible with light age-related marking. The rear label shows scuffing, scratches and edge wear but remains readable. Bottle only, with no presentation box.
