Delas Frères Gigondas “Les Reinages” 2019 is a very good Southern Rhône red: rich, polished Grenache-led Gigondas with genuine freshness, best from now through the early 2030s, it offers strong quality for its level. Producer: Delas Frères, a historic Rhône négociant/producer with strong northern Rhône roots. Appellation: Gigondas, in the southern Rhône, near the Dentelles de Montmirail. Blend: 80% Grenache, 20% Syrah. Style: Medium-to-full-bodied, ripe and concentrated, but with a relatively refined, silky texture rather than a rustic, blockbuster profile. Tasting profile Expect black cherry, raspberry/redcurrant fruit, pepper, garrigue, anise, violet and subtle woodland/resinous notes. The 2019 has ripe fruit and building tannins, but critics highlight its freshness, focus and balanced finish. Wine Spectator scored it 92 points and described it as bright, lively, fresh and refined; Jeb Dunnuck also praised its concentration, ripe tannins and long finish. Drinking window The Wine Society’s 2019 en primeur note suggested 2023–2031. Now–2028: Excellent, fruit-forward drinking; decant 45–60 minutes. 2028–2032: Likely peak, as the Grenache fruit softens and garrigue/spice notes develop. A very good, polished everyday-plus Gigondas—more elegant than rustic, with enough structure to hold for several more years.
