Gaja Costa Russi, Barbaresco 2010 – 1.5 Litre Magnum

A superb and highly collectable 1.5-litre magnum of Gaja Costa Russi 2010, from one of Italy’s most celebrated producers. Costa Russi is one of Angelo Gaja’s renowned single-vineyard wines from Barbaresco in Piedmont. The 2010 is predominantly Nebbiolo with a small proportion of Barbera, combining the elegance and perfume of Nebbiolo with remarkable depth, structure and ageing potential. The wine displays layers of dark cherry, plum and strawberry alongside floral, spice, mocha and menthol notes, with fine tannins and a long, powerful finish. Critic scores: • 95/100 – Vinous • 95/100 – Robert Parker's Wine Advocate • 95/100 – James Suckling • 94/100 – Wine Spectator A highly regarded vintage with excellent ageing potential, and particularly desirable in the slower-maturing magnum format. 1.5 litre Magnum – equivalent to two standard 75cl bottles. Presented in original wooden case (OWC). A rare opportunity to acquire a mature, highly rated large-format bottle from one of Piedmont and Italy’s most prestigious producers. I bought this wine seven years ago from a well-known wine dealer and it's been at London City Bond ever since.
